Life Member – Jim Fussell, has passed away.

I’m sorry to tell you that one of our Life Members, Jim Fussell, has passed away, and his funeral is at Ryhope (out of Toronto) tomorrow Friday at midday.

Jim hadn’t sailed at SPASC for a good number of years, but was the lynch-pin in getting our Clubhouse to the state it is in, the architect of the project, organising and ‘doing’ to make it happen. Even if we don’t always think about it, we reap the benefits of his efforts every time we go to our Club!

He returned to Australia and sailing after serving in the Air Force in World War II. Flying over an enemy country in the tail of a Lancaster can’t have been much fun!

And of course his son Bob has carried on the family tradition by sailing at SPASC when he was younger, and again now.

A great life story, and SPASC is proud of the association with Jim.
